ON MAY 31, 2012 a complaint was filed on executive director of WinCAM, David Gauthier.
Gauthier's behavior after the complaint was legitimately filed was offensive, brutal and not appropriate. Attorneys have been contacted to find out if Mr. Gauthier's actions were legal or not.
A court case against Gauthier is going to be filed.
What is chilling is that the bullying Gauthier will exact on members is an epidemic at non-profits around the country. (*please note, no one is accusing WinCAM of financial improprieties; WinCAM board and some staffers are being accused of inappropriate conduct of a bullying and of a sexual nature, on high school property.)
Workplace bullying in the non-profit sector
First, non-profits often are hierarchical, top-down organizations, with scant managerial accountability. To add to the problem, many non-profit boards exercise very little oversight when it comes to how workers are treated.
There are multiple victims beyond a member getting bashed around by the likes of Gauthier.
Your children are at risk if boorish employees call a technician a homosexual in front of the school kids, on Winchester High School property at 80 Skillings Road (prior to WinCAM's move to Swanton Street.)
Your children are at risk when a staffer violates the manual rudely calling a board member and member of the Winchester School Committee a vulgar name for testicles, in front of the young adults.
David Gauthier doesn't give a damn about you or your kids. He was INCENSED that someone had the courage to report his bullying activities, and has even sent two ugly e mails harassing the victim around Christmastime, evidence for the upcoming court case.
Gauthier also sent a vulgar and harassing e mail before Thanksgiving. He really is angry and tries to upset anyone who questions the fact that Gauthier is woefully unqualified for the position, and was a stop gap measure after Melodie Wing and "her" board of directors (that's what she told me they are when she was mumbling in a condescending manner about "her" board in the equipment room at 80 Skillings Road) - a stop gap measure when Wing and crew fired a popular executive director and his assistant, after WinCAM had recently fired Dan Cronin.
The Town Manager wasn't even aware of the lawsuit filed by the fired manager until a public records request was filed.
Public Records Requests are a big part of how Medford Community Cablevision, Inc.'s problems were identified, resulting in the shuttering of that station. It has taken years until Mayor McGlynn in Medford has decided to reopen the station.
If it takes 2 or 5 or 12 years to identify the ugly problems at WinCAM, Winchester Community Access and Media, then Town Hall can get ready for a bevy of public records requests come the first of the year.
The Selectmen are also the Issuing Authority over WinCAM and have to take some responsibility in the pitiful way business is conducted over there at 32 Swanton St.

Board Members Who Act Up: A Profile of Abusive Trustee Behavior -
Because of the sensitive and rarely documented nature of abusive trustee behavior, the three board members interviewed for this FYI--Susan, Joan and Jim--speak from a position of anonymity. Brooke Mahoney, VCG's Executive Director, invited Dr. Jonathan Lampert of the Ackerman Institute to conduct this interview with her so that the conversation could be informed by his experience as a psychiatrist who specializes in family therapy. Susan, a longstanding member of the board, had led an initiative to bring new trustees into the group. Jim and Joan--who had served in leadership roles on a broad range of other governing boards--were recruited through her efforts.
