Part of Melodie Wing's 10-29-13 statement to Selectmen, Issuing Authority of Winchester

THIS 'MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING' HAS REPEATEDLY REQUESTED THAT WINCAM BE ACTIVE IN
'MEMBERSHIP RETENTION'

page 2

"Ms. Wing informed the Board (the Selectmen) that in the ten years  (italics by the editor) that she has been a member of the WinCAM board, not one member of the general public has ever attended a board meeting.  She noted that members of WinCAM have attended board meetings (yours truly! - editor,) but not from the general public; no one has ever been turned away from an open session."

membership retention?

My opinion of Wing's statement is that after ten years of being president, with ZERO attendance from the public at a non-profit FUNDED by the public, that Wing must take responsibility for the PUBLIC ACCESS STATION being so "invisible" to the General Public.

Her comment that "no one has ever been turned away from an open session" after saying "that in the ten years  (italics by the editor) that she has been a member of the WinCAM board, not one member of the general public has ever attended a board meeting." is, basically, an OXYMORON

No one showed up, so of course no one was ever turned away.  No one showed up to get turned away by Wing's wicked policies.

But, being logical about this, the public could see the lack of public participation a result - quite possibly -  of the bad reputation the board of directors has for the firings of Cronin and Gay.

Those firings happened while Wing was on the board, the "front page news," the lawsuit(s), all ugly stuff that could have made the public shy away from a hostile environment that Peter Pongratz, Melodie Wing, Allan Eyden and possibly others had created.

Attorney Wing admits that no one from the public showed up in 10 years, and part of being president of a public access station is to reach out to the public and INVITE THEM to see the station, experience WinCAM, come to board meetings to see how the non-profit operates with their money.   It's been this writer's experience over the past 4 years that the WinCAM board was too busy "protecting its turf" to want to bring membership in.

David Gauthier's suspicious percentages with no hard programming and certifications to back it up; Wing's own "board" (her board) deciding to throw out non-residents, just more bungling by a group of entrenched cronies protecting THEIR ABILITY TO USE THE STATION while keeping membership low, and having incompetent staffers there as a mechanism to provoke, harass and humiliate the public until they leave.

There is a trail of unhappy people under Melodie Wing and Allan J. Eyden, a trail of unhappy people.  Meanwhile, Wing and Eyden accept "awards" and block people from exercising their own First Amendment rights.

They are cheats.  They cheat the public.

It is wrong.  It is so very wrong, using someone else's money to have a private access station and using bullying and harassment as a technique to make it their own.

Wait till you read Attorney Wing's opinion of the Open Meeting Law, something this writer had to educate the soon to be ex-City Council President of Medford about.

City Councils are REQUIRED to read the rules regarding OPEN MEETING LAWS and doofus over at the Medford City Council - uh, golly gee...didn't know about the rules until a PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST was filed for information from the council.

The troubling aspect of Ms. Wing's statement that  "in the ten years  (italics by the editor) that she has been a member of the WinCAM board, not one member of the general public has ever attended a board meeting." is prima facie evidence, in my opinion, that Wing has failed at outreach and has, quite possibly, scared the public away from the toxic environment that is WinCAM under Melodie Wing, who personally told this writer it was "her" board.

You heard that correctly.  In the equipment room of WinCAM at 80 Skillings Road, Wing made a derogatory comment about the board of directors moving slowly, and claimed to me that it was "her" board.

No, Attorney Wing, it is a board for the public designed to facilitate THEIR programming, not yours.  But if the President of WinCAM tells the issuing authority NO ONE has shown up under "her" board, then "her" board must be removed for the health of the station.

This information will be going to oversight in government both in Boston and elsewhere.  It is hideous and just another reason the failed policies of Wing serve Wing and "her" board and not the community.
